SpecsDuel

Editorial policy and method

How Specs Duel decides what to cover, how pages are researched, and what we will never do.

How a duel is built

A duel puts two products side by side using only figures the manufacturers publish: dimensions, weight, power, capacity, noise, warranty, price per unit. Each row shows both figures and the difference. When a maker does not publish a figure the row says not published; we do not estimate or borrow numbers from retailers.

Scores

Four sub-scores from 1 to 5 - ease, features, value, support - summarise the sheet for readers who want one number. They are derived from the published specifications, warranty terms and verified owner reviews, not from lab or home testing, and the page says so.

Updates

Spec sheets change when a model year changes. Each duel carries the date its sources were read; when a manufacturer revises a figure we update the row and the revision date.

What we never do

Frequently asked

Do you personally use every product you cover?

No, and we will not pretend otherwise. Where a page is based on first-hand use it says so, with the plan and the dates. Otherwise it is built from documentation, pricing history and verified user reports, and it says that too.

Can a vendor pay to be included or to improve a score?

No. Vendors can send corrections with sources, which we check like any other evidence.

How often are pages updated?

Prices and features are re-checked on a schedule and each page shows its last-checked date. Readers’ corrections are handled as they arrive.
